DENSO manufactures copper-cored plugs for two and four-wheeled vehicles

1972

Patent for DENSO U-groove spark plug design.

1975

U-groove spark plugs released by DENSO.

1983

DENSO Long-life Platinum plugs released.

1997

DENSO distributes world’s first Iridium Power® Long-Life spark plug for motor vehicles.

1998

Iridium Power High-Performance spark plugs developed by DENSO. World’s smallest centre electrode of 0.4mm diameter.

2000/01

DENSO sponsors Masao Azuma and Noboru Ueda, well-respected 125cc Motorcycle Grand Prix riders. Both use DENSO Iridium Power® High Performance spark plugs.

2001- 04

DENSO International Australia – Spark Plug division, sponsors the Supersports Category at Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.

2004

In addition to supplying the Toyota F1 Racecar with spark plugs, DENSO also becomes a corporate sponsor of the Toyota F1 Racing Team.
