DENSO opens Australian Vehicle Test Facility

The Hon Ian Mcfarlane MP (Federal Minister for Industry, Tourism and Resources) officially opened DENSO's state-of-the-art Test Facility (Research and Development Centre) at its manufacturing headquarters Australian Automotive Air. Mr Mcfarlane said "It is great to see an Australian based automotive producer who is investing a significant amount of money in research and development to strengthen the position of our industry for the future."

The centre boasts:

Climatic Chamber - re-creating 'real world' conditions

  • Full spectrum sunlight system.
  • -20 to + 50 degree temperature control.
  • 0 to 110km/hr air speed wind tunnel.
  • 4WD capable chassis dynanometer.

Noise Vibration Room - low noise environment for testing automobile systems

  • Air Flow Noise.
  • Fan/Pump noise.
  • A/C Noise.
  • Infra-red lighting system for heat load.

Vehicle Maintenance Workshop

  • Pre-testing vehicle preparation.
  • Prototype parts testing.

Australian Automotive Air's Managing Director Russell Pettis stated that "this multi-million dollar centre signals DENSO's commitment to further enhancing the technological capability of the Australian automotive industry, adding vision and strength towards it's long term future.
